According to the Essential Oils Pocket Reference, this is a gentle, fragrant blend that brings a feeling of peace and tranquility to both children and adults and helps to relieve daily stress and nervous tension. It helps with normal, everyday stress, improves mental response, restores equilibrium, promotes relaxation, and lowers hypertension.
Stress Away contains the following essential oils:
- Copaiba is an oleoresin like frankincense and is exuded from the trunk of the copaiba tree in South America. Historically it is used for anti-inflammatory and antitumorial healing in folk medicines. In modern pharmacology it is used in products that soothe and protect the skin. Its hypnotic-like properties work as a sedative to the nervous system and can induce sleep. It is stimulating to the nervous or sympathetic nervous systems.
- Lime is well know in folklore for its ability to cleanse, purify, and renew the spirit and is said to be effective in cleansing the aura. It can stimulate and refresh a tired mind and helps with depression. It has also been used for acne, asthma, colds, flu, and varicose veins. Have you tried it as a deodorant yet? Read about it here.
- Cedarwood is high in sesquiterpenes, which stimulate the limbic part of the brain, the center of the emotions and memory. It stimulates the pineal gland, which releases melatonin, thereby improving thoughts, cognition, and memory. Cedarwood is very stabalizing and grounding.
- Vanilla is a species of vanilla orchid that is native to Mexico and is one of the primary sources for vanilla flavoring, due to its high vanillin content.
- Ocotea has a complex aroma that induces feelings of fullness or completeness, creating an environment of peace and tranquility.
- Lavender has been documented to improve concentration and mental acuity. University of Miami researchers found that inhalation of lavender oil increased beta waves in the brain, suggesting heightened relaxation. It also reduced depression and improved cognitive performance.
- Fractionated (virgin) coconut oil has been processed or "fractioned" to create a strong shelf like. With its antiseptic and disinfectant qualities, it gives a strong, stabilizing foundation to the delicate roll-on formulation.
This sounds nice :). I need to buy some essential oils, my list is getting long! And I'd love to read a post in regards to hair shampoo and conditioner. We've been exploring alternatives, but I haven't found anything that works really well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea...I will definitely do a post on shampoo/conditioner. Let me know when you are ready to buy some oils--I will help you get all set up!
