Another Use for Thieves!

Guest Post by Catherine Von Hatten

My niece recently injured her mouth in an accident resulting in a need for lots of work on her teeth and mouth, as well as damage and irritation to her gums. Ultimately, she ended up with painful canker sores. When she researched possible treatments, she discovered that putting a drop of Thieves on the sore relieved the pain instantly and is causing the sores to heal more quickly.

So, what are canker sores? They are small, shallow ulcers that appear in the mouth making talking and eating uncomfortable. They can occur three or four times a year and last up to a week. This more simple type is common in people ages 10-20. More complex canker sores are less common and occur more often in people who have previously had them.

No one knows for sure what causes mouth ulcers, but experts suspect that stress or tissue injury are the primary causes of the simple type. They can be triggered by certain foods, such as acidic fruits (lemons, oranges, strawberries, etc.). Dental appliances, a sharp tooth, braces, or other irritations to the mouth can also trigger a canker sore. More complex canker sores are thought to be related to underlying health conditions such as an impaired immune system, nutritional problems, or gastrointestinal tract diseases such as Celiac disease or Crohn’s disease.

Thieves is a Young Living blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary cineol. This particular blend boosts the immune system and can reduce the life of a mouth ulcer dramatically.

To use Thieves as a canker sore remedy, you can mix a couple of drops in water and gargle, if the sores are down the throat. If the sores are in the mouth, you can apply a drop directly on the ulcer or put a couple of drops in the mouth and swish them around. Thieves can be applied as needed until the canker sores are gone.
