Treating Super Dry, Chapped Skin

Guest post by Catherine Von Hatten

Since moving to Colorado several months ago, my husband has had severe dry skin. Between the dry air and his work renovating our home, his hands have been so chapped that the resulting abrasions and cuts are painful at times. He tried a variety of lotions and other products to no avail. I even mixed up several essential oil blends in different carrier oils to try to help heal his hands.

Then my daughter saw this tip from Evelyn Vincent, a Young Living distributor, on a blog site. Mix a dab of Animal Scents ointment and a dab of Kidscents Tender Tush cream and apply to the chapped area. It’s a miracle combination. My husband’s hands were better overnight and have improved dramatically since using. He says it’s the best treatment he’s used on his chapped skin!

Animal Scents Ointment is designed to be used on cuts, scrapes, and other skin issues with pets, but you can see from the following list that it is made with ingredients that are very healing to the skin and highly acceptable for human use. The ointment contains mink oil, lecithin, beeswax, lanolin, sesame seed oil, rosewood, wheat germ oil, palmarosa, geranium, patchouli, balsam fir, myrrh, carrot seed oil melaleuca alternifoila (tea tree), and rose hip seed oil.  All the essential oils in the Animal Scents recipe are pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils.

Kidscents Tender Tush is formulated to prevent and heal diaper rash. Ingredients include coconut oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, wheat germ oil, olive oil, almond oil, and pure therapeutic grade essential oils including sandalwood, rosewood, roman chamomile, lavender, blue tansy and frankincense. Again, all ingredients are known to have skin healing properties and are fine for application anywhere on the body, not just a baby’s bottom.

A great advantage for these products is that they are so concentrated, you only use a tiny bit. Each container lasts up to a year.
