Weekly Wellness Tip: Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is often recommended as a carrier oil for essential oils, but it also provides benefits on its own. Its high Vitamin E content, as well as the presence of other antioxidants and proteins make it an effective skin moisturizer by itself. It is a relatively "thin" oil that seems to absorb more easily into the skin than some others.

It can be applied topically to sooth and eliminate dry skin. It sooths a dry, itchy scalp. It can be used in a warm bath or applied after a shower for maximum absorption. Like sesame oil, it has some mild sunscreening properties. Some have even found that it reduces age spots with regular application. As with all new products, try a little bit on a small area to check for allergies before full application.
