Don't Leave Home Without 'Em

Essential oils make great travel companions. We like to take a kit with our favorites along to ensure that we are prepared for whatever arises.

· Lavender is our “go to” oil. Carry some in your purse to fight hayfever, put on bug bites to stop itching, treat sunburn discomfort, or put a few drops on your wrist or neck to help relax or energize when you are fatigued from travel. If you only have room for one oil in your bags, this is the one to take!!

· If you have a travel diffuser, you can freshen up your hotel room with Thieves. If you don’t, put some on a cotton ball and stick it between the grates of the air vent. You can use Thieves to clean your hands, in a pinch, when soap and water aren’t available. Put a dab on your neck on the airplane so the air you breathe is fresh and clean.

· Lemon is antimicrobial and antibacterial, so put some in your drinking water or clean your hands with it. Many people find it soothes stomach problems, as well. A few drops mixed with a little water create a handy cleaning solution on the go. It can be sun-sensitive, so don’t use it on exposed skin if you are going to be in the sun.

· Peppermint in drinking water is refreshing and energizing. It soothes upset stomachs. Put a little on the back of your neck when you feel overheated and feel instant relief. When experiencing motion sickness or nausea, you can put a few drops on your stomach or just take the lid off the bottle and inhale.

· Peace and Calming helps our pets travel more calmly. Put a drop or two on the pet’s collar or behind her ears. Rub some on your shoulders or wrists if traveling makes you tense.

· Purification is a refreshing odor eliminator. Use it in your hotel room in a diffuser or on a cotton ball in the air vent. It stops the itch of bug bites and helps heal scratches and stings.

· It’s important to stay hydrated when you are flying, exercising, or in the sun. Essential oils added to your water, clean it, make it taste great, and may encourage you to drink more water.
