Essential Oils and Wellness

Have you ever squeezed a lemon or an orange peel and noticed the liquid seeping out of the pores of the skin?  That's essential oil.  These aromatic liquids extracted from shrubs, trees, flowers, roots, bushes and seeds are the essence of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy uses essential oils topically, internally, or through inhalation to support, balance, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.   This natural approach to wellness is beneficial to both body and mind.

I have always been interested in natural approaches to health and everyday living.  One of my first experiences with essential oils was using lavender in my laundry and tea tree oil on my dog when he had an ear infection.  Last summer my mother attended a workshop on essential oils and we both became curious about other oils and their benefits.

I began using peppermint oil to alleviate headaches and backaches.  I regularly diffuse lemon oil to sanitize the air and boost my immunity, and most days I use a combination of lavender and frankincense on the bottoms of my feet to soothe and calm.  I no longer buy commercial cleaners.  I clean every surface and area in my house with Thieves cleaner.

My goal is to research and learn more about natural approaches to wellness.  I'm hoping my blog will provide a way for me to share what I learn about essential oils, nutrition, and holistic living with others.
